This center offers structured bespoke treatment programmes that provide support and therapy for individuals and families dealing with mental health issues or substance use disorders, trauma, grief and chronic health conditions.

Other services offered are nutritional advice and consultation and ayurvedic consult and treatment , women’s wellness, stress related programmes, programmes for LGBTQI, educational workshops, integrative and functional medicine programmes for chronic diseases like metabolic syndrome, digestive and hepatic diseases, heart and autoimmune diseases.

The Community Who Needs AC

The community who will seek and need our offerings comprises of several segments, each reflecting a different aspect of the wellness demand.

Health-Conscious Individuals:
This group is proactive about maintaining or improving their physical and mental health. They are likely to engage in regular physical activity, follow a balanced diet, and seek out services that support their health goals. Our personalised healing programmes, yoga and mindfulness meditation sessions, and functional well being based health coaching are designed to cater to these individuals’ needs.

Individuals Seeking Mental Health Support:
Rising stress levels and the increasing prevalence of mental health conditions have led to a growing demand for effective, non-pharmaceutical interventions. Our mindfulness-based stress reduction programmes, meditation sessions, and personalised counselling services cater to this segment.

Individuals with Chronic Illnesses:
This segment includes individuals seeking complementary and alternative medicine-based healing for chronic conditions. Our holistic, functional medicine-based interventions, integrative nutrition, herbal medicine, functional movement therapy, life style coaching , Ayurvedic healing programmes and Energy healing like Reiki, Qigong are aimed at supporting these individuals on their healing journey.

Our location near the Colombo International Airport, coupled with our unique blend of Western and Eastern healing practices, positions us as an attractive option for tourists.

Group Programmes

Addictions Intensive Day Programme – is a confidential three – week programme for individuals that require a more intensive and daily treatment option. Individuals who will benefit from this programme are ones who are motivated, detoxed and have undergone several individual counselling for their addictions in preparation for the group. This recovery programme is based on the abstinence model.

Eligibility

  • This programme is open to individuals 18 years and older.
  • Participants must be medically and psychiatrically stable.
  • Eligibility to the day programme is under discretion of your therapist or health professional.
  • Able to abstain from alcohol and substance use for the duration of the programme.
  • Comfortable actively participating in a group setting with other participants.
  • Committed to being prepared for each session.

Hours and Location
The programme operates at the Ayuda Community Center, Thalahena, Negombo premises. The programme runs Monday-Thursday from 9:30 am-3:30 Pm for 3 weeks. The maximum number of participants is eight (8). The programme is offered in closed, co-ed groups. Programming is in English only.

The programme includes :

  • A focus on increasing your understanding of addictions and recovery.
  • Developing skills to improve your ability to cope with difficult emotions.
  • Group lectures/ Psychoeducation sessions.
  • Development of personal recovery plan.
  • Self-care practice while in the programme and support to continue recovery efforts in the community.
  • Family co -dependency and management.
  • Mind-body-spirit practices
  • Relaxing games and activities.
  • Relapse prevention and management, healthy leisure options etc.
  • Aftercare: Clients are encouraged to attend after care after completion of the Day programme.

Support groups- Make connections, get help

If you are facing a major illness or stressful life change you don’t have to do it alone . A support group can help.

Support groups bring together people who are going through or have gone through similar experiences. It is an opportunity for people to share personal experiences and feelings, coping strategies or first hand information about diseases or treatments. Support groups are provided for grief, cancer and trauma. It is a requirement to keep all discussions confidential.

Structure of Support Groups

  • Formats may vary, including face- to -face meetings for 1.5 hours weekly at Ayuda Community center or as online communities.
  • The support group is run entirely by group members and often there will be an experienced facilitator to support the group.
  • Support groups may offer educational opportunities, such as a guest doctor, therapist, nurse etc.to talk about a topic related to group needs.
  • Support groups are not the same as group therapy sessions.

Support groups will help you feel less lonely, isolated or judged and improve skills to cope with challenges , So join us and let us together find a sense of empowerment, control and hope.
